Licence Terms

These terms govern the use of the MLC Terminal desktop application. For the mlcgo.eu website and your user account, see the general terms of use; for data processing, the privacy policy.

Last updated: 5 September 2026

In short

  • You may use MLC Terminal on as many of your own devices as you like.
  • The first 30 days run with the full feature set, without an account.
  • After that it keeps running for free, with fewer features.
  • Nothing you have set up is deleted — not even when a licence expires.
  • The software is ours; your data is yours.

1. Licensor

2. What you receive

You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use MLC Terminal within the scope of the tier that applies to you.

The right is personal to you as an individual, on any number of devices you use yourself. It is not a per-device licence: moving between a workstation, a laptop and a machine at home does not require several licences.

Use by several people — a team, for instance — is not covered. Talk to us about that.

3. The tiers

Trial — 30 days, no account

A new installation runs for 30 days with the full feature set. No account and no registration are required, and nothing is transmitted to us. The remaining days are calculated from two timestamps in your local configuration file.

Free tier

After the trial, MLC Terminal keeps running indefinitely and free of charge, with these limits:

  • up to three saved connections
  • no Docker tab
  • no live monitoring

The terminal, the file browser, protected sessions, themes and everything else remain fully usable.

Pro

The Pro tier unlocks the Docker tab, live monitoring and an unlimited number of saved connections.

Offer until 31 December 2026: register on mlcgo.eu by then and Pro is free for one year from the day you register. After that the licence expires and the application falls back to the free tier.

Pro licences cannot currently be purchased. Once they can, the contract terms published at that point will apply in addition; these licence terms are not affected by that.

4. What happens when the tier changes

Nothing is deleted. When a licence expires or the trial ends, every connection, key, layout, note and setting is kept. Only the features of the higher tier are locked — and connections beyond the third can no longer be opened, without disappearing.

Renew the licence later and everything is usable again, unchanged.

5. Licence verification

When you enter a licence key, the application sends that key and the name you entered once, over an encrypted connection, to mlcgo.eu. The response is stored locally; every further check runs offline. There is no recurring activation and no requirement to stay connected.

Details are in the privacy policy.

6. What you may not do

  • Circumvent, remove or disable the licence check.
  • Pass on, sell or publish licence keys.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except where § 69e of the German Copyright Act expressly permits it.
  • Sell, rent out or operate the software as a service for third parties.
  • Remove or alter copyright notices.

7. Your data and your servers

The software connects to servers you name. What you do there is your responsibility. Make sure you are authorised to access those systems.

Credentials, keys and host lists do not leave your device — see the privacy policy.

8. Rights in the software

All rights in MLC Terminal remain with the licensor. These terms transfer ownership neither of the software nor of its components.

The software contains third-party components under their own licences. Those licences take precedence over these terms for the component in question.

9. Warranty and liability

The software is provided as is. For software supplied free of charge, the statutory limitations on a donor's liability apply (§§ 521, 523, 524 of the German Civil Code).

Liability for intent and gross negligence, and for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, is unaffected, as is liability under the German Product Liability Act. Otherwise liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical of this kind of contract.

Back up your data. A terminal runs what it is told to run; no software can protect against an unintended command on a production system.

10. Term and termination

The right to use the free tier is unlimited in time. Time-limited licences end when their term expires.

A material breach of section 6 ends the right of use. You may not continue to use the software afterwards; your local data is unaffected and stays with you.

11. Changes to these terms

We announce material changes at least 14 days in advance — by email to registered users, otherwise on this page. For a licence already acquired, the terms in force at the time of acquisition apply for its term.

12. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Place of jurisdiction is Germany, as far as legally permissible. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence are unaffected.

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. The statutory rule takes the place of the invalid provision.
